As we are coming up to the one & only Cleveland Browns Preseason home game on August 23rd at Huntington Bank Stadium, many young parents are asking the same question…” Will my child/children be ready for some football?!”
NFL Sundays can be a lot for a family, especially the younger that the kids are. Many parents have the same exact anxieties about attending a live game. Everything from parking, the crowd, the stadium, BATHROOM TRIPS, and the length of the game & if your child/children can handle a full 4-quarters. That is where preseason football is the PERFECT stress test for these young fans.
I’ve attended more preseason Browns games than I can count. Majority of the attendees are families, especially families of youth football players and their teammates. The Cleveland Browns organization does an excellent job embracing these young fans, making it a great experience for their families by getting them involved with scoreboard games & activities. Most importantly, preseason games allow families to connect with each other & learn the game together in person. It’s the best pigskin education that a young fan can get!
Plus, it’s PRACTICE in the form of a game! The crowd understands that the games are for players & coaches to develop and don’t count in the final standings. Therefore, the atmosphere is calmer compared to a late season playoff push against your division rival. Preseason will give parents a great sense of where their kids are when it comes to crowd engagement, sounds/noises, and excitement!
Final note, the game is on a Saturday at 1 PM and ticket prices are very affordable online! If you get to the game and your young one is ready to go home by the middle of the 2nd quarter, you’re only out a few dollars and can still enjoy the afternoon together. Like wanting to ride Millennium Force at Cedar Point, if they get there and quickly realize they aren’t ready yet…well, no big deal and maybe they will be next year!
Just like a rookie player, the best way to find out if your rookie fan is ready for regular season is by taking on preseason first! Enjoy the game and Go Brownies!
